Ingredients
Milk: 1/2 litre
Sugar: 10 teaspoons
Custard Powder: 6 teaspoons
Ghee: 1/4 teaspoon
Procedure
Step 1: Boil the Milk
Heat 1/2 litre of milk in a saucepan until it comes to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer gently.
Step 2: Prepare the Custard Mixture
In a separate bowl, take 1/2 cup of cold milk and mix it with 6 tablespoons of custard powder. Stir well to ensure there are no lumps.
Step 3: Add Sugar to Boiling Milk
Gradually add 10 to 12 tablespoons of sugar to the simmering milk, stirring continuously to dissolve the sugar completely.
Step 4: Combine Custard Mixture with Boiling Milk
After about 2 minutes, slowly pour the custard mixture into the boiling milk while continuously stirring to ensure a smooth consistency.
Step 5: Cook Until Thickened
Continue to cook the mixture for another 5 to 7 minutes, stirring constantly until it thickens and bubbles appear, indicating that it's ready.
Step 6: Prepare the Plate with Ghee
Take a plate and apply 1/4 teaspoon of ghee to prevent the custard from sticking to the plate.
Step 7: Pour and Cool the Custard Halva
Pour the cooked custard into the prepared plate and allow it to cool down to room temperature.
Step 8: Serve the Custard Halva
Once cooled, cut the Custard Halva into pieces. You can garnish it with almonds, cashews, or cherries for added flavor and presentation. It tastes even better when refrigerated and is a favorite evening snack among kids.
