Ingredients

Biyyam Pindi (Rice Flour): 1 Cup

Measured 1 cup of Biyyam Pindi (Rice Flour)

Bellam (Jaggery): 3/4 cup

3/4 cup of grated Bellam (Jaggery) ready for use

Pesarapappu (Green Gram Dal): 1/2 Cup

Half a cup of soaked Pesarapappu (Green Gram Dal)

Miriyalu (Pepper Seeds): 1/2 tsp

1/2 teaspoon of Miriyalu (Pepper Seeds) for seasoning

Procedure

Step 1: Preparing the Pesarapappu (Green Gram Dal)

Begin by soaking the Pesarapappu (Green Gram Dal) in water for 2-3 hours. This soaking process softens the dal, making it easier to blend and extract the essential flavors required for the drink.

Step 2: Preparing the Chalimidi Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup of Bellam (Jaggery) with the Biyyam Pindi (Rice Flour). Gradually add a small amount of water while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens into a smooth, dough-like consistency. This Chalimidi mixture serves as the flavorful base for the drink.

In a glass, add the prepared Miriyala Podi (Pepper Seed Powder) and 2-3 teaspoons of mashed Bellam (Jaggery). Pour in 250ml of water and mix thoroughly to combine all the ingredients, forming the Paanakam drink. This mixture serves one person and offers a balanced blend of sweetness and spice.
